Think Twice About Nutrition

What Goes In Will Come Out

Isn’t that statement above true? Whatever you put inside something, will come out. What you put in your suitcase, when you arrive at your destination and unpack, will come out. What you put in your cupboards, when it’s time to cook a meal, will come out. What you put in the bank, when it’s time to make a withdrawal, will come out.

Nutrition works like that. The things that we put inside of our body that we call food will come out in some way. But today I want to talk about another kind of nutrition. A nutrition for the soul. This is very important because the rule still stands: what goes in will come out.

As our body takes in food, our mind takes in information. We process that information and then circumstances draw on what we put in. Like food, bad food in is bad food out and that makes for a bad meal. So bad information in means bad responses to situations and that makes for a bad life.

When you take in good, positive and truthful information you have good ingredients to work with. But when you take in bad information like gossip, slander, negativity and the like, you’re not gathering the best ingredients for a healthy life.

Like any good chef, be choosy about what you use for ingredients. The chef knows his reputation is at stake and guess what, so is yours. Think twice about what you allow into your mind and remember that what goes in will come out.

Some Helps To Choosing The Best Ingredients
1. Be sure to get your information from truthful sources.
2. Filter out anything immoral or shameful.
3. Stockpile an inventory of positive thoughts and attitudes.
4. Consider the fact that you will be remembered by what you say and do.

Today’s Quote “Whatever a man sows, that will he also reap.”                                                                                                                                                     The Apostle Paul

Think Twice About Ministry

Are You Doing Anything?

You’re probably thinking, “That’s a dumb question. Of course I’m doing something, maybe even too many somethings.” I think we would agree that living in our day and age we are doing too many things. But it is not busyness that makes a full life. It is not the amount of what we do but the quality of what we do that matters. Maybe it’s time to Think Twice about how we use our time with things that keep us busy.

Ministry is different from being busy. The word itself means to minister or to serve another. You can already begin to see the benefits from doing ministry than in being busy. It is much more gratifying to serve someone else than it is to just be busy doing things. Even if those things are for someone else. It has to do with attitude.

You can wash dishes and call it being busy or you can wash dishes as a ministry in helping someone, even if it’s your own family. When you are serving you are ministering. In that case the reward is greater.

Look at the things that you do that keep you busy. Are they enjoyable? Do they fulfill you? Do you find value in them? Now look at those same things and see them as a service to others. Do you think they would be more enjoyable and fulfilling being a help to others? I think you would.

The next time you find yourself being overwhelmed with busyness, try seeing yourself as a servant, a minister, there to help others. I believe it would make a tremendous difference in the joy you will find in life.

Some Helps To Be A Minister Instead Of Just Busy
1. Change your attitude about serving.
2. See what you are doing as a help to others.
3. Consider the eternal value of the things you do.
4. Walk your dog, don’t hire someone else.

Today’s Quote “For fast-acting relief, try slowing down.”
Lily Tomlin

Think Twice About Leadership

Are You An Influencer? Yes.

Where would we be without leadership, good leadership? Leadership brings people to where you want them to be, and helps people to get to where they need to be. Influence defines leadership. Think of it. The arena you influence people is the place where you are a leader. The home, workplace, church or even a group of friends provide the opportunity to demonstrate leadership. A father or mother is a leader. A boss or supervisor is a leader. The dominant personality in a group of friends is a leader.

We know there are good leaders and bad leaders. It is important to remember that a good leader leads people to where it is good for the whole. A bad leader leads people to where it is good for the leader but bad for the whole. This should make you “think twice” about the leadership of our own country. Evaluate where the leaders are leading and what is good for the whole of the citizens.

Before you evaluate your own leadership or lack of leadership style, check out what others have said about leadership.

“A leader must see the vision, state the mission and set the tone.”                                                                                     David Rockefeller
:Anyone who influences others is a leader.”                                                                                                                                  Chuck Swindoll
“A leader is an average, everyday person who is highly motivated.”                                                                                    Theodore Roosevelt “
“Leadership is calculated risk taking.”
Ted Ward
“I use not only my own brains but also all I can borrow.”
Woodrow Willson
“The boss says, ‘Go’; the leader says, ‘Let’s go.’”
H. Gordon Selfridge

Some Helps To Being A Good Leader
1. Have a vision for where you are going.
2. Communicate that vision to those you want to follow.
3. Choose the right people.
4. Enlist people to help get there and release them to do it.
5. See your goal as a benefit to others.
6. Leadership is developing others to become leaders.

Today’s Quote “See everything; overlook a lot; deal with a little.”                                                 Pope John XXIII

Think Twice About Knowledge

What do you know?

How much do you know? “Know about what?” you say? I say, “Know about the important things.” Sure, we need people who know about mechanics, medicine, construction, travel and many other things. This is the knowledge that makes the world go round.

We need people who know math, science, biology and economics. We need people who understand law, government and international relations. But the question today is, “How much do ‘you’ know.”

You probably know a lot about what you do for a career. But how much do you really know about why you do it? Knowing what to do is good but knowing why you do it is also important. Knowing why you do something adds value to what you do. If you do not know why you do what you do, you will lose interest in doing it.

Now, let’s get to the most important question. How much do you know about life? Do you know how important your life is? How there is only one of you and that makes you special? And if you have life, you have a purpose. That purpose brings two outcomes; one present and one future. The present outcome is fulfillment in this life. Fulfillment is what everyone is looking for but not everyone finds it. They are on a never-ending search for it. A wise man once said; “How much better it is to get wisdom than gold! And to get understanding is to be chosen above silver.”

The future outcome is rewards in eternity. But not all people will receive future, eternal rewards. Going back to the present, it is those who understand why they have been given the gift of life, then they discover and live in their purpose. The basic purpose for every person is to know God and make Him known. This simply means to have a personal relationship with Him and tell others the same.

Yes, you can know a lot about this life but eventually, this life ends and everything with it. But the eternal state is forever. I am grateful for all those people who know the important things that make this world go round and help us, members of humanity, to be healthy and prosper. Perhaps it’s time to Think Twice about the true knowledge; the true knowledge that gives you security in eternity.

Some Helps To Gaining True Knowledge
1. Realize there is much knowledge to be gotten.
2. Seek the knowledge that takes you beyond this life.
3. Realize that you are not here by chance or coincidence.
4. Get knowledge and then add more knowledge to it.
5. Look beyond this life with an open heart and an open mind.

Today’s Quote
“The beginning of wisdom is, acquire wisdom. And with all your acquiring, get understanding.” Solomon

Think Twice About Joy

Are You Feeling It?

We may all be traveling different roads but I would say we are heading toward the same destination. Some travel by way of money. Others travel by way of popularity. Still others travel by way of creativity. Which road are you taking? And do you know why you are taking that road? What is your destination? I believe the destination we are all heading for is JOY.

Color it any way you want, joy is the outcome we are looking for from our efforts, time and investments. The original word for joy means to rejoice, to have glad feelings. There is nothing wrong with searching for that mysterious treasure. Actually, it is something God wants us all to have. Jesus even said, “These things I have spoken to you so that My joy may be in you, and that your joy may be made full.” John 15:11

Joy is not happiness. Happiness is based on outward circumstances which constantly change. Joy is based on one’s knowledge and security in Jesus Christ in spite of outward circumstances. Perhaps that is what makes joy such a mystery to so many people. They just cannot seem to find it because they are not secure in Christ.

Know that joy is real, can be lasting and is God’s desire for you. If you’re not feeling it, think twice about how to get it. It really is your God-given destination for life.

Some Helps To Find Joy
1. Know that it is okay to want joy. God wants it for you.
2. Joy does not begin on the outside but on the inside.
3. It is a worthy pursuit but can only be found by traveling one road – Christ.
4. When you get there it will affect everything else about your life.

Today’s Quote “Shared joy is double joy and shared sorrow is half-sorrow.”
